I am now officially on YouTube! I am excited to start this new avenue for communication and teaching in the sewing world.
The first garment that I have created for the channel is McCalls M8021 view B with modifications. I love a good wrap dress, and I especially love to make something quick and easy.
This dress features pockets, bodice lining, and full gathered sleeves with elastic. I chose to straighten out the bodice front panels instead of having the large, rounded edges. This pattern calls for sequin, novelty fabrics, crepe, or velvet.
While out in queens I found this velvet green floral fabric from Milla Fabrics in Jamaica, Queens for only $4/yard! The matching green lining fabric was found at Fabrics World in the NYC Garment District.
I love how forgiving this dress is. The pattern has been drafted to be loose-fitting and comfortable, and the open-front design of the dress allows for the maker to adjust the size of the dress to fit perfectly. Not to mention, the addition of the belt creates a flattering cinched-waist look.
Check out ElinEstelle on YouTube for a full tutorial where I'll show you how to sew the perfect pockets and fully-enclose your lining. Scroll down to watch:
