How To Sew Face Masks

Writer's picture: elinestelleelinestelle

2020 has been a year of self-care and preservation. Living in NYC has been the hard; the fear of disease is always present.

JoAnn Fabrics released a couple of face mask templates and have been supplying home sewers with the tools they need to create CDC compliant cotton face masks.

I have purchased several cute fabrics from them including this Friends cotton fabric.

I also created a video on my YouTube channel showing you step-by-step on how to create a face mask with the addition of a wire pipe cleaner and face mask filter insert.

To make a mask you will need:

- 100% cotton fabric

- 1/2" double fold bias binding

- Lightweight interfacing (for additional protection)

- Aluminum foil or wire for the nose

- Scissors

- Fabric Pins

- Stick for pushing out corners (I use a chopstick)

You can also check out my Etsy shop to purchase 100% cotton face masks.
