Goodbye 2020, and good riddance!
What a year it has been, between a global pandemic, getting furloughed, and moving half-way across the country a lot of things have happened.
To celebrate such a momentous new year I went all-out and made a New Years Eve outfit worth celebration. On one of my last trips to Mood in NYC I spotted the perfect faux fur fabric.
Originally an Alice and Olivia fabric, this faux fur is both fun and fabulous. I ended up purchasing 2.5 yards at $40/yard. Although normally I am a discount shopper, this fabric is truly a once-in-a-lifetime purchase.
The fabric for my dress was purchased from JoAnn's. It is a two-tone sequin with one side being black velvet and the other side a black sequin. I chose to make McCall's M7866 dress with the sequins.
And for the jacket I used McCall's M7847, a faux-fur jacket with collar. The bright red silky lining fabric was also found at JoAnn's.... scroll down to see how it turned out.
And check out my new YouTube video featuring Minneapolis's own SR Harris fabric stores! Now that I have moved back to the midwest you will be seeing a lot more of their fabric.
