This year's holidays are being celebrated a little differently. While I can't celebrate with a lot of people, I can still make something for the event!
This year I made Kwik Sew K4104 & K4261 with a border print embroidered fabric that I purchased on a trip to Brazil. The patterns are very simple, with clean lines and very few pattern pieces; and the dress pattern is made specifically for border print fabrics.
I made a few modifications to the jacket to allow for the border print at the hem and sleeves. I chose to make the jacket cropped to my waist and decided not to attach the lower half of the pattern. I also redrafted the sleeves so that they did not have a dart at the elbow. That way the border print would not be cut off.
The dress features a square neckline with neck facing, a V back neckline, princess seams at the bodice and darts at the skirt. Since I am in #isewlation I had to use the notions that I had available. That includes using a hot pink zipper and yellow double-fold bias tape at the armholes.
The jacket is very simple and has no closures. It is, however, fully lined. I purchased a stunning hot pink silk lining from Astoria Fashion Fabrics.
