Did you know that Diane Von Furstenburg's flagship store and office are located in the Meatpacking District of New York City? Located around the corner from Chelsea Market you will find an avenue of shops including the iconic DVF.
During the month of January there was an installation of cosmic stars built alongside the store. The large room featured a moon, a star, and beautifully painted astrological signs.
For this experience I sewed Butterick's pattern #B6592 view A - a misses top with a basic bodice and large gathered sleeves with trim. The trim was sourced from B&Q Trims and the button was sourced from Pacific Trimmings both on west 38th Street in the Garment District.
The top itself is very basic - darts at the front, bias binding at the neckline, and a keyhole with a button at the back. The sleeves were a little more complicated with a basic sleeve at the very top and a wide and gathered bottom-half. I did like that the bodice was customized by cup size - there was a larger pattern available for C/D cups. I used a blue watercolor-printed fabric from my stash; the addition of a beautiful flower button at the center back and flower trim on the sleeve bottom helped to carry out this look.
