Cari Swimsuit

Writer's picture: elinestelleelinestelle

The Cari swimsuit is the newest pattern to be released by Damar Studio. I was so excited to be one of the pattern testers before the launch! This was my first experience testing for a brand, and I loved the experience. The only criteria was to sew the garment in my size, whichever view I wanted, and to comment on the instructions and fit.

A few of my suggestions had been to size up if you're between sizes and I would potentially add elastic along the outside of the bodice as well to keep the top tight.

However, this is view B with only elastic at the back and legs. Swimwear requires a different kind of elastic and thread. I picked up rubber elastic and wooly nylon thread at Sil Thread in the garment district. The fabric also needs to have a lot of stretch as well as synthetic fibers. So I used the leftover fabric from the yoga leggings that I bought at Spandex House as well as a second, light blue fabric for the lining.

The end result is a flattering and comfortable swimsuit that I will be wearing all summer!

I can't wait to make a second version.
