The New York Botanical Garden located in the Bronx offered a special celebration of Georgia O'Keeffe's work from her 9-week exploration of the islands in and around Hawaii during the month of August in 2018.
To get ready for this occasion I sewed Simplicity's New Look pattern #D0609 - a short romper with a front and back surplus. I love the flattering shape of the bodice with the v-neck and the belt to cinch at your waist. The romper is fully lined with elastic at the waist seam.
The fabric is a Mood Exclusive Ruisseau Tropical Cotton Poplin.
The event included a gallery of O'Keeffe's original artwork including those selected for the use of Dole advertising.
There were Hawaiian dancers offering lessons in luau and a demonstration to make your own lei.
