My 2024 looked a little different than past years.
.
While I still have had a passion for sewing, my year was filled with an abundance of other things. Including 4 new jobs, 6 road trips, 3 weekend getaways, publishing 7 YouTube videos, hosting 2 local sewing meetups, planning Twin Cities Frocktails, and volunteering 50+ hours in my local community.
.
And in the midst of all of this, I still found time for 12 sewing projects this year.
.
Funny enough, while navigating what makes me happy, sewing still kept me grounded.
.
I’m excited to enter in to 2025 while finding more time for what makes me happiest: sewing and creating
.

Using an interior design fabric called “Highland Plaid” which is actually woven in Scotland was a bit higher-stakes than some of my other projects. Making sure the stripes lined up on this very expensive fabric, I had to hand-baste the seams together first.
Then choosing to keep the cape unlined posed another challenge in finishing the seams. I chose to sew on double-sided bias binding and hand-stitch the edges down.
I love the way this fabric drapes, and using #V8959 really allowed the fabric to shine with minimal seams and a whole lot of volume.

Speaking of weddings… I made #M8142 to wear to another wedding this summer in Colorado. Using a green sequin fabric I bought on the fabric shopping trip for @chicagofrocktails - I love the way this dress turned out! Such a quick and easy dress to make with any knit fabrics.
Please excuse the photo quality, clearly the Rocky Mountains decided to shine.

This year has been so full of life that I haven’t had much time to do my favorite thing… sew!
Between juggling different opportunities and taking on organizing @twincitiesfrocktails I ironically haven’t had much time to spend doing the exact thing that has brought me closer to a community of friends and partnerships.
I did get the chance to make this vintage Vogue Montana pattern #V2835 for my friends wedding this month. I love how unique this design is from the style lines to the hem. I used a spandex from @srharrisfabric and was able to sew this up in an afternoon.
After an abundance of new ventures I’m excited to start carving my pathway and finding more time to sew. (My stash is overflowing!)
Can’t wait to show you what’s next! 🥳
